Dreamweaver 4.0 Behaviors Tutorial
Dreamweaver Behaviors allows you to create a lot of cool stuff to ease your web page navigation. They are like Java Scripts, only easier. Behaviours help your visitors change the pages in your website in a lot of varied ways. This adds life and interactivity to your site. You would just have to specify the action and state that will trigger them.
Here are simple instructions on how to create them in Macromedia Dreamweaver 4.0.
Open Browser Window
1. View the behaviours menu by selecting Windows/Behaviors.
2. Put the image or text on its screen. Then witness as tag in the title bar changes. The image or text that you put here are the ones you want to link to the new window.
3. For you to add behaviours; first select or highlight the element you would like to add behaviours to, such as an image or text you are creating a link from. Then click on the '+' symbol on the Behaviors Inspector for you to add a behaviour.
4. Select the 'Open Browser Window' panel and choose the behavior (onBlur, onError, onFocus, onLoad, onResize, onUnload).
5. Next, indicate the URL and assign the desired height and width of the 'Open browser Window' pop-up-window. Other configuration tools are available (status bar or scroll bar). Then click on OK.
6. Finally, choose the event that triggers the behaviour (onClick, - window opens when the link is clicked) on the Behaviors menu categorised under Events Column.
Play Sound on Mouseover or MouseClick
1. First, create a link so the sound will be played on click or Rollover. Create a simple text link through the ‘#’ symbol.
2. Next, add a behaviour to the link by clicking on the Behaviors Panel on Windows/Behaviors.
3. Then click the '+' symbol in the Behaviors Panel. Select 'Play Sound' and find the sound you want to play. When you’ve found the sound you want, click on OK.
4. If you want the music to be triggered by other events, return to the Behaviors Panel and under it, choose another event. For Rollover, choose the ‘onMouseOver’ option.
