Jump Menu Dreamweaver MX Tutorial
These are pop-up menus which are inserted on web pages. This is done so you can make a list of options which help the visitors navigate through the site. Jump menus allow URLs (Universal Resource Locator) to be connected with it. Hence, links to other websites, pages in your site, email and other links to files or documents that can be accessed by a web browser. It is composed of three parts:
- Menu selection prompt – Examples would be “Select.” It is optional
- List of linked menu items – this can be used to open any documents linked to it.
- Go button – This is also optional.
How to create Jump Menus
- First you have to make a List/Menu in a form. To do this, you should click on Insert then choose Form and then select on Insert then click on List Menu.
- Next, select the List Menu and click the ‘+’ button symbol found on the behaviors panel.
- After that, click on the Jump Menu option.
- On the Jump Menu pop-up window, type the text together with the URL for the links. Then, click on the ‘+’ button to add a link. To delete one, click on the ‘-‘ button.
- Then, if everything is exactly how you would want them to be, click OK.
How to insert Jump Menus:
- To insert a Jump Menu, click on Insert then under it choose form and from the options that would appear select Jump Menu.
- A dialog box called ‘Insert Jump Menu’ will appear. Try to fill out the text and URL fields for the jump menus.
- If finished filling out the fields, click on OK. Dreamweaver will then incorporate the JavaScript codes for the Jump Menu.
How to edit Jump Menus:
- First select your jump menu object. After that, double-click the Jump Menu from the Actions column in the Behaviors Panel.
- Try to configure the Jump Menu to your liking.
- Then save and run the file on a web browser.
