Dreamweaver CS3 Photo Album Tutorial

'Photos' is a Greek word which means light and ‘graphien’ or to draw. Special occasions, vacations, holidays, and parties are usually kept in our memories and relived through photos. But the walls of your house might not have enough space for you to display them all and photo albums take up a lot of space and cannot guarantee that the quality of the photos will stay the same.  Plus, paying for photos to be developed usually takes a lot from your pockets.

Today we usually use digital cameras and compile the photos on the computer. And Dreamweaver helps you organise them with photo albums. Below are some easy steps on how to create your photo album at Dreamweaver Web Photo Album.

1.       First you need to launch the Dreamweaver site. Set up a folder for your photo album.

2.       Then try to open a new page in the site. From the menu bar, select Command and choose Create Web Photo Album from the toolbar.

3.       Naming the album. This will only be visible in the thumbnail page. Create a sub header- if you opt to. Next, select the destination folder, set it on the folder you made earlier. Then configure the thumbnail options (size, number of columns, etc.). Then click on OK. Fireworks will be creating the thumbnails for the pictures. If the task is done, a message will come up indicating that the album is now created and you will be able to view it.

4.       The album would still be basic and unformatted. There would be a folder named ‘album’ and under it are 3 sub folders which are listed as follows.

    • Thumbnails: for thumbnails
    • Images: for original images
    • Pages: for pages where the bigger images are inserted together with the  navigation for you to navigate among pictures and go back to home

Note: The index.htm page will contain all of the thumbnails which are linked to the bigger images.

5.       Now, edit your Index page and apply the template (optional). You can also use CSS Styles to configure the text.

You can now view your photo gallery as if it is a part of the site. Do this to all pages under the gallery folder.
