Pop-up Tutorials for Dreamweaver MX

Pop-up windows are also web browsers, only smaller than the normal ones. It also lacks certain features that the standard one has – toolbars and status bars. They are activated by links on the pages. These are common for small side bar-style pages.
Pop-ups are very tricky effects in terms of web development. This creates many difficulties even for web developers themselves. Being careless may lead to web pages being handicapped and even search engines could not be accessed.
Dreamweaver provides an easier and effective way to make these pop-up windows. Here are a few and easy steps to create pop-up windows on Dreamweaver.

How to create and edit Pop-Up Windows

Pop-Up Windows are created trouble-free by using the 'Open Browser Window' of the Dreamweaver behaviors panel. You can give the URL and set the window properties using the 'Open Browser Window' dialog box.

  1. Open a new blank document by selecting HTML under the New category found on the introduction splash screen.
  2. Then, type in any the name that you would like to use for the file so you can try out the pop-up window onto your new blank HTML file .Then select it once finished.
  3. Select Window from the menu bar. Then under it, choose Behaviors. This brings up the Behaviors panel.
  4. Click on the "+" button and then choose the Open Browser Window in order to view the Open Browser Window pop-up properties. Here, configure the pop up window to any setting you would like for the pop-up window.
  5. After that, indicate the URL for the link.
  6. Customize the width and height of the pop-up window, together with other characteristics you want the pop-up to have. These are attributes like toolbar, menu bar, status bar, and scrollbars or resize handles. Once satisfied with the way things look, click OK.
  7. Choose the events that would trigger the pop-up window from Events column in the Behaviors column to be used on the link.
