A note for all my dear learners out there – guys, this lesson won't take much of your time! Probably this is one of the shortest and the quickest of all other tutorial lessons. Feeling great, huh? Well, this is just an introductory lesson on linking URLs and files using the HTML formats.

Welcome to Lesson 9 – HTML Anchoring

Before we start off tell me something – what has made the web attain the peak of popularity? Or in simple terms… what is the true supremacy of the web? Yes, it is none other than the superb potential of the web to generate hypertext links clicking on which the readers will be re-directed to the related information page, which in turn may also be virtually located.

As a passionate net surfer you must be well aware of the URL concept. URL – Uniform Resource Locators – is an address format used by the World Wide Web, a concept that specifies the backdrop of the hyperlinked items. You must have seen these hypertext links several times over the internet; the ones that are usually underlined in blue, selecting which takes you to another web page. In the world of HTML, these hyperlinks are better known as anchors.

In our upcoming lessons we will:

  • Learn more about URLs.
  • Techniques to copy-paste URLs from browser windows into your HTML document.
  • Create links to an HTML document in the same directory.
  • Create links to an HTML document in a different directory.
  • Creating HTML anchors to web pages over the Internet.
  • Creating HTML anchor addressing another subdivision within the same document.
  • Creating hyper-graphics and anchor another document.
