Draw a football

You have to open a new document and for that go to file and click on New. Select the pixels for your new document and click Ok to exit out of the window. Colour the document in grey colour by choosing grey as background colour. On the document, draw a circle using the elliptical marquee tool from the tools palette. To make a perfect round, hold the shift key while drawing. Go to select menu and click on load selection. Then go to transform selection and then modify. From the fly out menu select contract. Add the contract value as 15.

Now from the layers palette, add a new layer, using the new layer icon. Or you can go to Layer and click on new layer and then apply stroke.  Now make these changes in stroke box; stroke width as 30 px, colour black and location to centre. Create the edges of a ball in black colour. Now draw another round using the elliptical marquee tool and move the round towards the ball so that it overlaps a part of the previous round ball and delete the edge of the ball from the part which is being overlapped. Repeat it at different places in the ball at least three times so that the ball has black edges left only on three sides.

On a new layer, draw pentagonal shape. Select the custom shape tool from tools and then click on shape drop down menu from where you can select the pentagon shape.  Then, go to edit and select transform and distort. Duplicate these shapes twice, adding a layer each time and place them on the ball. Now, again create a new layer by going to layer and clicking on new layer. Use a brush tool and join all the shapes and previously made black edges. Hold the shift key while drawing these lines to make them straight. Go to layer styles and select blending options. From here, select Bevel and emboss where you have to select inner bevel in style, smooth in technique, up in direction, 83% in depth, 3 px size and 1px in soften. Select white in colour overlay. This will add bevel effect to the lines in the football.

Add one more new layer and to create a shadow effect, you will have to draw a flat oval shape. Go to filter, then click blur and then Gaussian blur. Here, add a value of 3.0. You will have to reduce the opacity of this shadow layer to 50%, to get the shadow effect.

Now, from the layers palette, merge all the layers, leaving the background and the shadow layer. If you want to place your football on a ground, then you can delete the grey background layer and select and use a picture of grass and add it (grass) as the new background. Finally, select the black areas of the football using the magic wand. Go to filter and then click on artistic, then select plastic wrap. After this, again go to filter, click on blur and then select Gaussian blur. Now, add 0.5% of Gaussian blur to the ball and your ball will be ready.
