Multiple colours in a single photo
You can choose a photo for which you want to work on. We can divide a single photo into different sections; each section will have a different colour. To divide into sections, we will need guides. For this, go to the View menu at the top and choose new guide.
In the New guide dialog box, choose vertical under orientation option or horizontal, as you wish. If you wish to divide the photo into 4 equal parts then type 25% at the bottom of for position value.
Click Ok and you can see a vertical line running from top to bottom.
Go back to the view menu and select New guide; but here you have to enter a value of 50 % in position value. Repeat the same steps for the third vertical guide with 75% as the position value. With three guide lines, your photo will be divided into 4 equal sizes, vertically.
Now, go to View menu at the top and select Snap to and from its sub menu, check to see if Guides is check marked or enabled. If not, then enable it.
Using a rectangular marquee tool from the tools palette,
drag a selection around the first section. Because of the Snap to option enabled, as soon as the box moves closer to the guide, the selection will cover the entire section.
Now, at the bottom of the layers palette, click on the new adjustment layer and choose a hue/saturation adjustment layer.
In the hue/saturation dialog box, select the colorize option situated at the bottom. You can choose any colour you want by moving the hue slider to the left or to the right. Click Ok when done and exit out of this box.
To ensure that all changes are being made to the colours only and the brightness will not change; change the blend mode of the adjustment layer, which is at the top left corner of Layers palette. By default, it is set to normal; so change it to Colour.
Again, using a rectangular marquee tool, make a selection around the second section.
Repeat the procedure by clicking on the new adjustment layer icon. In the hue/saturation dialog box, select the colourize option and drag the hue slider to the right. You can decide if you want your second colour to be very different from the first or you can move the slider only a little bit to the right if you want some similarity in colours. Click Ok and close the box. Again, change the blend mode of adjustment layer to Colour. Repeat these steps for section 3 and 4; so finally the photo will have all 4 sections in different colours.
Now go to the View menu and here, choose Clear guides, as you no longer require them.
To brighten all the colours, you have to click on New adjustment layer icon at the bottom of layers palette again and choose hue/saturation once more. Once here, drag the Saturation slider to left or right to decrease or increase the saturation. Dragging it to the right will brighten up the colours. Click Ok and close the hue/saturation dialog box.
