Straightening an image

Sometimes pictures that you click are askew, especially with a horizontal line like a railing or table top running across. In such cases you will have to straighten the lines to align the photo. In the Photoshop, go to the measurement tool and make a line, either horizontal or vertical, exactly along the line which you need to align.

Then go to the Image menu and select Rotate Canvas. After selecting this, you will get a sub menu, where you can click on Arbitrary. A new window will be opened which will have a value under the Angle option box. You can even enter the value yourself to straighten the degree of rotation, but this is very difficult as it is difficult to judge how off the mark the picture is. Using the Measurement tool, the value itself appears in the Angle box. You can click OK in this dialog box. The result will be a straightened and slightly rotated picture which will have blank edges on the sides. You will need to crop these edges. Go to the Crop tool located at the top of the screen in Photoshop toolbox. After clicking the Crop tool, select the area in the picture which you want to retain with no blank edges. The selected area will be highlighted and this will be your final picture, perfectly aligned.
